“You don’t even have to do any tests, I am drunk as s**t”, allegedly says man found driving wrong way down multiple Chambersburg streets

08 March 2024- A Chambersburg man is facing charges following a traffic stop by CPD and a round of tasers deployed on him. Aaron Michael Boynton is charged with misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and summary driving the wrong on one way roadways/rotary traffic islands. Boynton is free awaiting his next court date after being given an unsecured bail of $15,000.

Chambersburg PD officers were driving the right way (southbound) on N Main Street in the borough just before midnight on March 7th when they allegedly spotted a green Chevrolet SUV driving the wrong way (northbound) on S Main Street. That SUV then made another wrong turn, right onto Lincoln Way East (eastbound) and was pulled over facing the wrong way near the intersection of S Second Street and Lincoln Way East.

The driver of that 2021 Chevy Trailblazer was determined to be Aaron Boynton by his PA license. Officers say that he had bloodshot and glassy eyes along with the smell of alcohol coming from his breath when they say he screamed at them “to check his paperwork”. After one officer returned with said paperwork, Boynton allegedly told the two officers “You don’t even have to do any tests, I am drunk as s**t”.

It was at this point Boynton was told to step out of his vehicle by officers but he reportedly refused. When an officer opened Boynton’s driver’s side door, they say he immediately tried to shut it again. This continued, with Boynton allegedly being told more than a dozen times to get out of the vehicle by CPD officers but he had to be helped out of the car by multiple officers. Boynton reportedly grabbed the steering wheel to avoid being pulled out and was subsequently tased. Boynton was eventually handcuffed by CPD officers, but they say he continued to resist and began kicking one of the officers.

After the arrest, Boynton was taken by CPD officers to Chambersburg Hospital for a legal blood draw, the results of which will be made available at a later date. Maybe advantageously for CPD, though, Boynton did allegedly tell them he was “drunk as s**t” prior to that blood draw.

Aaron Boynton is free on an unsecured bail of $15,000.
