Williamsport to glow Dec. 26

WILLIAMSPORT, MD— Through a partnership between the Williamsport Lions Club and the Town of Williamsport, Bryan Memorial Park will be aglow with luminaries in honor of those who have been impacted by COVID-19.

The luminaries will be lit at dusk Dec. 26, in remembrance of those who have passed from COVID-19, those who have contracted the virus, their family members and loved ones, the business community, all the first responders who have been our front line in this pandemic, and the community as a whole.

“We are hoping to bring light in some dark times and share in a moment of remembrance for all that we have faced this past year,” said Main Street Manager, Kathyrn Gratton. “The Williamsport Lions Club and the Town of Williamsport wanted to remind everyone that while it can feel like we are each facing this pandemic alone, it is something we all have been impacted by this in some manner.”

The luminaries glow throughout the evening as part of the annual Christmas Lights in Byron Memorial Park.

Local officials ask that those who plan to attend in person to see the luminaries follow all COVID-19 precautions including wearing masks and social distancing when possible. For those who wish to remain home and see the luminaries and Facebook Live video will be shown on the Town of Williamsport and Main Street Williamsport Facebook pages.
