Waynesboro School Director resigns; board seeks candidates

WAYNESBORO – The Waynesboro Area School Board is seeking a new member after the resignation of Director Beth Reecher Tuesday.

“I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve my community of the north area,” Reecher said in a letter to the board. “I have appreciated the opportunity to have dedicated three years to caring about all children within our district.”

Reecher represented the north end of the district, which includes Quincy Township, South Mountain, Mont Alto and part of Guilford Township. She was appointed to the board in May 2017 to fill a seat left vacant by Roger Willingham, and then elected to a four-year term on a write-in candidacy last year.

The WASD board has 30 days to appoint someone to fill Reecher’s seat.

Residents of the north area who would like to be considered can send a letter of interest to Erin Kooser at erin_kooser@wasdpa.org or contact her via phone at 717-762-1191 x1102. The board will hold public interviews on Sept. 8, right before board meeting and are expected to appoint the successful candidate that evening.
