Waynesboro PD arrest man on domestic abuse, drug sale charges after incident on Saturday morning

01 July 2024- A call initially for a domestic violence case results in multiple felonies, including drug related, for a Waynesboro man. Codie Jonathan Badger is behind bars after failing to post bail of $2,500. He was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute, felony strangulation, and misdemeanor assault.

Waynesboro PD were called to a home on Mt Airy Avenue in the borough around 9:30am on June 29th for a reported domestic that had turned physical. While en route, officers say that the victim was locked in an upstairs room away from Codie Badger, who had reportedly strangled her. They were also given a description of Badger, who they quickly located walking east on Mt Airy Avenue.

Officers quickly detained Badger and terry frisked him due to him allegedly continuing to grab his pants and pull them up, fearing that something could be weighing them down. A search reportedly found a small bag of marijuana in them, which lead to officers reportedly learning he had bags broken into half an ounce and multiple into 1/8th once bags. Believing they were packaged for sale, Officers detained Badger.

An interview with the victim of the initial assault reportedly saw the officers learn that Badger and them had been arguing over infidelity. This allegedly escalated into Badger strangling the victim for about 30 seconds.

Codie Badger is behind bars on $2,500 bail.
