11 January 2024- A Broad Top, PA man is behind bars today in Franklin County after allegedly admitting to Waynesboro PD officers he sexually assaulted multiple of his family members a number of years ago. Woodrow Allen Hill is charged with five felony counts of IDSI with a child, felony indecent assault of a person less than 13, and five felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor. Hill has since failed to post bail of $375,000.
Waynesboro PD officers were initially notified of potential sexual abuse of a minor in early November 2023, when they received a phone call from a mother who had previously lived in the borough. That caller allegedly told them that her now-13 year old daughter, she believed, had been sexually assaulted by her brother’s uncle. That man, Woodrow Hill, had lived with the victims and the caller in 2016 at a house in the borough of Waynesboro. During that time, one of the victims would have reportedly been 6-7, with the other being 4-5 years old.
Forensic interviews were conducted on both children at an out-of-state child advocacy center where they currently lived. During the interviews with the victims, police say the girls were reportedly very descriptive about the incidents and pointed towards Hill being the person that assaulted them.
In January of 2024, WPD officers received a phone call from Woodrow Hill stating he received a message from his nephew about the investigation, eventually scheduling an interview for January 10th.
WPD officers interviewed Hill at WPD station headquarters on January 10th. During the interview, officers say that Hill was forthcoming and admitted to sexually assaulting the girls a number of years ago. He confirmed the nature of the assaults, to which he was read his Miranda Warnings and again allegedly admitted to the assaults. WPD say that “Hill acknowledged during the interview that he knew what he was doing was wrong”, and that after the confession he “began making statements about knowing he was going to jail today”.
Woodrow Hill is behind bars on $375,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 23.
