Waynesboro man tells police he wants to go to jail, police take him in after domestic incident

01 August 2023- A call by a third party leads Waynesboro Police to a Foulger Street home where they allegedly find a woman being held against her will by a boyfriend. Efrain Cabrera is behind bars after failing to post bail of $50,000 bail. He is facing charged of misdemeanor witness intimidation, misdemeanor assault, and summary harassment.

Around 3am on August 1st, Waynesboro PD officers were dispatched to a possible domestic in progress on Foulger Street. The caller, who was not there, said that his children’s mother told him that her boyfriend, Efrain Cabrera, was acting crazy and broke her phone.

When police arrived, they spoke with the victim who showed evidence that she had been assaulted, grabbed by the neck, and more. She allegedly said that the argument started when she became frustrated with Cabrera when she confronted him about not going to work that day. It was then that Cabrera allegedly grabbed her by the head and hair, slapped her, and threw her. Concerningly, Cabrera allegedly told the victim he was going to drag her outside and beat her up in front of the entire neighborhood. It was then that the victim said that she would call the police but Cabrera reportedly took her phone and eventually broke it. Cabrera also allegedly told the victim that “he is not afraid of the police or going to jail”.

WPD officers interviewed Cabrera, with him allegedly admitting to pushing, grabbing by the hair, and throwing the victim around. Additionally, he told police that he wanted to go to jail.

Efrain Cabrera is in fact behind bars now, on $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for August 8th.
