Waynesboro man suffers stitches, missing tooth from incident on New Years Eve

20 February 2024- A New Years Eve incident in Waynesboro results in stitches and multiple dental procedures for a man, as well as a felony charge for another. Mikel Dillan Holden is charged with felony aggravated assault with extreme indifference. Holden is free today on an unsecured bail of $75,000. Charges were filed only recently, with Holden being arraigned on February 15th.

Waynesboro PD were notified of the assault on January 2nd, two days after the incident when a man entered the station to report an assault on New Years Eve. That victim said that he was asleep on a couch at a home on Tritle Avenue in the borough and awaiting a ride home when he was woken up by a man yelling at him to get out of the home. The man doing the yelling was later identified as Mikel Holden. The nature of Holden or the victim’s ties to the house on Tritle is unclear.

When the victim got up and started to leave, Holden allegedly assaulted him multiple times. During that incident, WPD say the victim lost a front tooth as well as having serious facial injuries. Those injuries caused visible swelling and bruising as well as three stitches.

In addition to the statement by the victim, WPD officers were given a video of the assault. The reviewed footage allegedly showed Holden hitting the man in the face, causing a tooth to visibly fly out of the victim’s mouth and audibly strike the wall behind him. After this, the video reportedly shows Holden punching the man more in the face and kicking him, as well as the tooth laying on the ground nearby.

As a result of the attack, which WPD determined not to be a mutual fight, the victim sustained a laceration on his face necessitating emergency treatment of three stitches. Additionally, officers say that the victim will need three dental procedures over the next 6-9 months to fix the damage to their mouth.

Mikel Holden is free on an unsecured bail of $75,000.
