21 December 2022- A man already convicted of child sexual exploitation crimes in Florida is charged with sending and receiving more at his Waynesboro Home. Cody Stuart Johnston is charged with two counts of felony child pornography, two counts of felony disseminating child sex acts, and two counts of felony criminal use of a communications facility. Johnston posted a bail of $50,000 and is currently free.
On May 18th of this year the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report from the messaging app Kik that 12 files of child pornography had been shared by a user between May 3rd and May 7th. A subpoena on the associated IP address with the messages found it to be registered to Cody Johnston in Waynesboro, PA. Johnston has a previous conviction for child pornography in Florida, to which he has a registration under Megan’s Law in Pennsylvania.
On December 20th, Johnston was interviewed at his home, to which he allegedly said he was the only resident and subscribed to Comcast. Additionally, Johnston allegedly admitted to having a Kik account but it was shut down due to sharing child pornography. Johnston allegedly said that he received child porn and shared it with other Kik users he didn’t know, allegedly acknowledging that the acts were a crime and that he was “being stupid during the time of occurrence”.
Johnston is free after posting bail of $50,000. His preliminary hearing is set for January 3rd of 2023.
