Washington Twp Police find an AK-47 with multiple loaded magazines, 37mm grenade launcher in felon’s home

17 July 2023- A Washington Township man is looking at two felony charges after police allegedly find both airsoft and real guns in his possession after he was previously convicted of a felony. Nickson Thomas Zurgable is charged with two counts of felony possession of a firearm and is behind bars on $75,000 bail.

Washington Township Police were called to a home in Waynesboro for a man who was previously convicted of a felony potentially having firearms in his home. Police were able to speak with the mother of Nickson Zurgable, with the latter being identified as the sole occupant of the home. Zurgable’s mother allegedly told police that Nickson was in crisis on a 302 warrant but had a dog that needed to be let out. The mother then let herself in to take car of the dog but allegedly spotted multiple weapons. Police were called shortly after and a search warrant was granted.

Police entered the home and found multiple refillable airsoft grenades and BBs throughout the kitchen. Police then moved to the living room and allegedly found a 37mm grenade launcher and 3 “CN” tear gas launchable grenades. Continuing, police found what they thought was a sawed off shotgun, with it later being found to be another BB gun. While searching in that room, however, police allegedly found and seized a full magazine of 7.62×39 ammunition. Police ended the search in Zurgable’s bedroom, where they allegedly found multiple trauma kits, medical kits, and battle med kits along with a bandolier and pouch with 12GA shotgun shells.

When all was accounted for by multiple officers, police also allegedly found a black AK-47 chambered in 7.62×39 along with another full magazine for the AK. Police also found more 37mm launchable tear gas grenades.

Nickson Zurgable is behind bars on $75,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for July 25th.
