Washington County Republican Committee Chooses Corderman

HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Republican Central Committee nominated Delegate Paul Corderman to fill the vacancy left by former state Sen. Andrew Serafini Tuesday.

“The Central Committee had a very difficult choice to make tonight, and we did so fulfilling our constitutional duties after a very rigorous process,” said Jerry DeWolf, the Washington County Republican party chairman. “We received countless emails and phone calls from folks for both delegates, and it was one of the toughest choices our committee has had to make in a very long time.”

Delegates. Paul Corderman and William Wivell, R-Washington, applied for the position.

The seat was officially vacated on Aug. 1 when Serafini resigned after 12 years in Annapolis.

The District 2 seat serves the eastern portion of Washington County including Hagerstown, Smithsburg and South County.

Corderman’s name will be forwarded to Governor Larry Hogan’s appointment’s office for confirmation and appointment.
