UPDATES: PSP announce capture for man who crashed on 81 near Shippensburg

UPDATE: Fancy has been taken into custody by police.

25 January 2024- After an initial investigation closed I-81 southbound near Shippensburg and Newville earlier this morning, Pennsylvania State Police have issued guidance and updates to the incident.

On January 25th, 2024, at approximately 9:45am, a PSP Troop L-Jonestown Trooper observed traffic violations from a silver Kia SUV in the area of I-81SB at mile marker 85. The Trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, which failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The operator drove through the Fort Indiantown Gap base at a high rate of speed, then rammed through a gate and proceeded to travel on I-81SB.

The vehicle then traveled through Dauphin and into Cumberland County when the operator lost control and crashed at mile marker 33. The drive fled from the vehicle running westbound in the Stoughstown Road/Burnthouse Road, Ritner Highway area. PSP immediately established a perimeter but were not able to locate the driver.

That operator is suspected by PSP to be Jimmy Lee Fancy, 35, of Daytona, Florida. Fancy currently has warrants for firearms violations from New Jersey as well as other active warrants in Pennsylvania. He was last seen wearing tan pants, without a shirt, and missing a shoe. He is believed to still be in the area.

If anyone sees Fancy, they are asked to immediately call 911. If anyone has information on his whereabouts, call PSP Jonestown at 717-865-5067.
