UPDATES: Johnson Controls issues statement after explosion at Waynesboro plant earlier

11 June 2024- At this time, little official information has been released by officials in Waynesboro or Johnson Controls regarding an explosion or incident at the company’s location in the borough earlier today.

Johnson Controls’ plant on 100 Cumberland Valley Avenue was the scene of a large explosion during the morning of June 11th, with a number of injuries being reported.

An initial statement by Johnson Controls has been issued, in its entirety below. At this time, all communications will be directed through JCI, rather that other local agencies.

The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority, and we are actively assessing the situation and working with local response teams. We will provide more information as appropriate as we learn more.
