UPDATE: PSP ID victim in Friday motorcycle crash as 44 year old Chambersburg man

26 January 2024- A Friday afternoon crash at the intersection of Ragged Edge Road and Lincoln Way East looks to have involved three vehicles, with the driver of a motorcycle being pronounced deceased.

PSP investigators say that at 2:37pm on Friday, A 2016 Chrysler 200 driven by a 32 year old Hagerstown woman was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Ragged Edge Road and Lincoln Way East when the driver tried to make a right turn on during the red signal. At this same time, a 2013 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide ridden by 44 year old JT Berger of Chambersburg was in the left hand lane of the westbound side of Lincoln Way East. Investigators say Berger had the right of way, as he had a steady green light.

When the Chrysler attempted to make the right hand turn, Berger’s motorcycle reportedly was in the middle of changing lanes and was struck by the turning vehicle. Following this initial impact, Berger was thrown from the vehicle and subsequently hit again by the Chrysler.

Due to the momentum and impacts sustained, the Chrysler was unable to stop right away and hit a 2004 Honda Accord that was stopped in the turning lane of the eastbound side of Lincoln Way East.

Emergency Services from Fayetteville VFD quickly arrived on scene and tried to transport Berger to Chambersburg Hospital, but he was later pronounced deceased.

No other people involved in the collision sustained injuries, but their vehicles were towed from the scene and remain in PSP Chambersburg custody.

As of time of publication, no one has been charged as a result of the collision and death.

JT Berger was 44 at the time of his passing.
