January 23 – International reports have shown that Ukraine is rather desperate for foreign financial help – because they’re running out of money.
Both the United States and the European Union are working to try to get funding to Ukraine, but particularly in the US, the bills have been held up in Congress.
Could a potential lack of funding maybe help stop this war?
Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM suggested, “Go negotiate, then. Shut the spigot off and get to a negotiating table.”
Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “This is also in the context of upwards of $60 billion in additional aid that Zelenskyy has asked for from the US and that’s part of this package that’s tied up in Congress right now that’s also related to border security and aid for Israel.”
Barkdoll said, “A lot of these military analysts are pointing out is this beyond the point of bailing them out? I mean, sometimes these situations reach that critical tipping point, it doesn’t matter how much money and how many resources you provide for them, it’s not coming back. So it’s going to be interesting when Congress, that’s part of this continuing resolution that was passed now, through March, do they just set this aside? Or do they attempt to send $50 or $60 billion of additional money to Ukraine?”
Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM pointed out, “The military experts looking at this long, long ago in Ukraine, they predicted this, they said there is no way to really win this and when you have Russia who has seemingly limitless numbers of people to keep using as cannon fodder for all this and you have North Korea making nice nice with Putin and sending him all kinds of munitions, It becomes this horrible, almost like a gang war type of thing where as long as both sides keep getting more ammunition and have enough people to go in there, they’ll just keep it going. And for what? For what end? We don’t see any path to victory here for Ukraine and yet every time there’s been an opportunity to perhaps go to the negotiating table, the peace talks, we’ve heard about that very early on in the process.”
“Even China wanted to put together a peace conversation,” Ryan added.
Jansen continued, “It just went nowhere and what is it getting us? More dead people on both sides of those countries and in Ukraine, particularly families, women, children.”
Ryan said, “And who’s making out? It’s the war machine and all the ghouls in DC that continue to get coins for more of the arms and nobody’s sitting down at the table.”
Barkdoll said, “There are no negotiations that I’m aware of, related to this Russia, Ukraine, ongoing battle, maybe there’s backchannel things happening, but it has amazed me for a long time now. Why aren’t you seeing US, UN, EU officials calling for there to be some kind of a negotiated end to this? Because I think that’s not happening, it’s just the beat goes on. We’ve all become numb to the story, but if you really dig around, I mean every day, there are, of course, new deaths, new bombings, new destruction throughout that country, and there just seems to be no end in sight to it.”
