February 7 – A head-on collision between two vehicles on Route 30, just outside of St. Thomas yesterday, has left two people dead.
Richard Cowan, 69, of Chambersburg, and Maura Boyce, 42, of Mercersburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger with Cowan, Mark Schwartz, 63, of Williamsport, MD, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Fulton County Medical Center.
Cowan crossed over the center turn lane in his 2015 Ford Transit as he traveled east on Route 30 and Boyce was driving west in a 2019 Hyundai Accent.
Both vehicles sustained head-on disabling damage. All three people were wearing seatbelts.
St. Thomas Fire Department, MMPW Fire Department, Chambersburg Fire Department EMS, Wellspan EMS, Life Net 8-1, LifeLion 3, Franklin County Fire Police, Franklin County Coroner and Abe’s Auto Service all assisted on the scene.
