PSP have charged a Chambersburg man with domestic crimes after allegedly paddling a child so hard the device broke in his hands. Austin Ronald Meyers is charged with misdemeanor assault and summary harassment and remains behind bars on $50,000 bail.

Troopers were initially dispatched to a home on Nottingham Drive in Hamilton Township on March 16th due to an assault six days prior. Police allege that Austin Meyers and his partner went out for around three hours on the night of the incident and left an 11 year old juvenile victim in charge of his 3, 4, and 5 year old siblings. That 11 year old reportedly alerted his biological father to the fact he was left in charge of his siblings, causing Meyers to become angry.

When Meyers returned home, he allegedly took the victim to a garbage can and had him bend over to be paddled. After allegedly hitting the victim two times on the rear thigh area on both legs with the paddle two times, Troopers say the paddle broke due to the force Meyers used. Police were contacted after the marks and bruising were still visible on the victim six days after the incident.
