Three men charged, one arraigned stemming from 2022 burglary of a Mercersburg pharmacy

21 September 2023- One man is behind bars in Franklin County following an alleged overnight robbery of a pharmacy in Mercersburg last year that saw thousands of dollars out the door. William Sherod III is behind bars on $250,000 following his arraignment on charges of felony burglary, felony conspiracy to commit burglary, felony theft, felony criminal use of a communications facility, and misdemeanor criminal mischief of damaging property. Sherod’s coconspirators, Deontae Tyreak Britton and Harold Antwan Dorman, have not been arraigned yet.

Mercersburg PD say that between 2:45am and 3:20am on April 1st, 2022, three men burgled the Modnur’s Pharmacy on Keefer Drive in Mercersburg. One of those men, William Sherod, appeared to investigators as the “lookout” for the burglary.

Police say that Sherod was in the car they monitored through CCTV making a loop near the Pharmacy and Rutter’s Farm Store that night between 2:45 and 3am. His coconspirators, they allege, exited the vehicle after it was parked near the American Legion parking lot with Sherod staying in the vehicle. Sherod allegedly communicated with his coconspirators via cell phone during the break in, resulting in the additional felony charge. During the break in, police say that a Halligan tool and a crow bar were used to open the glass doors and allow entry.

Both Britton and Dorman allegedly entered wearing ski masks, eventually opening various cabinets and drawers to take $500 worth of prescription drugs and $1,600 worth of cash and checks. The men then left the scene in the same car.

$1,200 worth of damage was allegedly done to two double sets of glass doors on the east side of the pharmacy.

Mercersburg PD say that all men were found and taken into custody in the early morning of April 12th, 2022, when they were burglarizing a pharmacy in Salisbury Maryland. They were processed and were in the custody of the Wicomico County Detention Center from April 12th until Sherod was remanded to Franklin County Jail on September 20th, 2023.

As of time of publication, Sherod is the only defendant to be arraigned as a result of this investigation. Additionally, initial charges against Dorman were withdrawn due to a naming issue but refiled through MDJ Eyer.

William Sherod is behind bars on $250,000. His preliminary hearing is set for September 26th.
