26 May 2023- Earlier this month the Borough of Chambersburg reported that Town Council hired FlockWorks, Orrstown, PA, to provide guided goat grazing to clear overgrown land along the banks of the Conococheague Creek adjacent to the Rail Trail between West King Street and Commerce Street.
We are pleased to report that the herd of 38 goats, which started with 36 but expanded with the birth of 2, are approximately two weeks ahead of schedule and almost finished with their work along the banks of the Conococheague Creek. As the current amount due to FlockWorks is approximately 1/2 of the $5,651.58 cost approved by Town Council, the Borough approved moving the goat herd to the west side of the Rail Trail, between West King Street and Commerce Street, to clear overgrown land near the Chambersburg Bike Park.
We are also pleased to announce that while the goats are still in town, FlockWorks representatives will offer a Meet & Bleat on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. near the Rail Trail parking lot on Hood Street. Meet & Bleat offers the public an opportunity to interact with the goats with supervision from FlockWorks representatives, who indicate that a quiet, calm demeanor is necessary and a sitting posture is an absolute must. They encourage participants to bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Meet & Bleat is an event offered solely by FlockWorks, with rules and liability waivers required for participants.
Questions about the Meet and Bleat can be addressed by Bruce Bradford from FlockWorks, who can be contacted at 717-417-8683 or email@example.com.
