This Christmas season help the young and neglected by donating to the Salvation Army’s meal and gift giving operation

30 November 2023- Christmas is for children, but it is also for family. But some of us don’t have family and need to know we are still remembered on such an important day. To make sure those who perhaps live alone and no family and others who have very little have a Christmas meal and a present, The Salvation Army in Chambersburg will be preparing meals and delivering a Christmas dinner┬áto shut-ins all over Franklin County and they need your help.

As one man said last year when volunteers delivered his meal, the photo album he received was his only Christmas gift. He said tears came to his eyes when he realized he was not forgotten and not completely alone.

The Salvation Army and their coordinator Lynne Newman are both asking for donations of gifts for senior citizens, as well as others who are in need. They do not have to be expensive, but they do need a lot of them. Last year, volunteers served close to 800 people at the Salvation Army building on Christmas day and delivered to homes with meals and presents. Because of the large volume of people they serve, food donations are also needed.

If you can help, if you need a meal delivered or if you would like to donate either presents or perhaps extra food for the Salvation Army Dinner, contact Lynne Newman at 717-263-2151 or 717-360-2407.
