Third person arraigned following July 2023 attempted homicide in Chambersburg

03 May 2024- A third person is in custody today after a July 2023 shooting incident on Heintzleman Avenue in Chambersburg. Bryaden Antonio Beam is charged with three felony counts of attempted homicide, two felony counts of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, and three misdemeanor counts of simple assault. Beam remains behind bars on $500,000 bail.

Much of the information pertaining to Beam’s arrest is identical to when Malik Penwell and Darcy Waters were arrested back in October of 2023. Water was identified on September 5th as a suspect, the one who was driving, during an alleged drive by of the the area around Barclay Village on the night of July 21st, 2023. Penwell was also arrested for the incident, and a B/N/F 17 year old (black, non Hispanic, female) juvenile was also identified following questioning of Waters and Penwell.

The shots were taken allegedly because of a prior argument following a party at a nearby residence. After an altercation, Beam allegedly became enraged and fired an AR-style rifle at the apartments on Heintzleman Avenue. In total, two shots were allegedly fired only by Beam, with the others being in the vehicle during the incident.

PSP say that, according to interviews with other suspects, Beam felt disrespected when he was hit in the face by another person at the party and decided to go back to his home, grabbed a rifle, then returned to the party to “intentionally attempt to cause death to (victim) by shooting at him with a rifle”. The initial callers, who discovered two bullet holes inside of their home and only about 4 feet from their bed, were also listed as victims by PSP.

Brayden Beam remains behind bars on $500,000 bail.
