The Run for PA’s 90th is ON

GREENCASTLE, PA – Republican Janon ‘Jay’ R. Gray is announcing his candidacy for Pennsylvania State Representative of the 90th District after State Representative Paul Schemel announced he will not be seeking another term. Read that story here.

The office of State Representative will be on the primary ballot in 2024.

Gray shared his announcement with TriState Alert & NEWS TALK 1037FM.

With the possibility of a reduced amount of time leading up to the 2024 Primary Election, Jay is announcing his candidacy early to give the people time to get to know him and his positions on issues facing the district. Transparency and communication with his constituents will be the cornerstones of his platform during his candidacy and if elected.

For over 26 years, Jay has filled various roles in the fields of accounting and consulting. He has been with Premier Consulting & Integration since August 2017.  Jay graduated from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, with degrees in Economics and Business Administration.

Jay lives in Greencastle, PA, and is an active member of his community.  He currently serves on the Greencastle-Antrim School Board and was elected Treasurer by his fellow directors.  Jay has been a vocal opponent of providing tax incentives as a method of attracting distribution warehouses to Antrim Township.  In his words, “The community elected us…that’s who I report to. I’m not willing to lose the trust of our community. These businesses come in from everywhere, but they don’t know Greencastle. They want to exploit us for what they can get and then leave. We should be small town people helping small town business owners that are here already.”

Jay was elected to the Franklin County Republican Committee and serves as Treasurer.  Currently, he is also Treasurer of the USA Day Committee, an organization founded by members of the Greencastle VFW.  Jay was selected to serve as one of 28 Pennsylvanians, known as Uniters, in a program focused on preventing targeted violence.  As a Uniter, Jay has spoken courageously against seeing violence through the lens of color.  He believes people matter, life is precious, and if we minimize our focus on what makes us different, we can maximize our positive impact on society.

To the citizens of District 90, “I will serve you with compassion, an optimistic attitude, and a tireless work ethic.  While many talk about challenges and problems, I will collaborate with you to find opportunities and solutions.”

The campaign website and Facebook page, once live, will contain candidate information and a calendar of local events.  In the interim, for more information and to ask questions, please contact Jay’s campaign at Gray4Dist90@gmail.com.
