Around 5:30pm on February 28th, Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were on routine patrol on I-76WB in Fulton County. While driving, Troopers allegedly found a GMC Yukon with Colorado plates with illegally dark windows that was weaving and moving across the fog line of the road. A traffic stop was initiated.
Troopers allegedly began talking to Antonio Alvarez, the driver of the vehicle. Police were able to see into the back of the car, as well, with them finding two children of ages 13 and 16. Alvarez was allegedly nervous and exhibiting signs of impairment so he was brought outside the car. When outside the car, Alvarez allegedly told police he had a pound of marijuana in the car.
A field sobriety test on Alvarez was conducted, with him allegedly showing significant signs of impairment. He was then transported to Fulton County Medical Center for chemical testing.
The vehicle was then towed to PSP-Everett, where a search warrant was obtained to search the vehicle. As a result of the search, police allegedly found two vacuumed sealed bags containing marijuana, 27 clear plastic bags with marijuana, 15 clear and foil bags with marijuana, one clear gallon ziplock bag with marijuana, one digital scale, four empty clear and foil bags, and one sealed bag containing 7 smaller zip sealed baggies.
Alvarez is behind bars on $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for March 6th.
