Still have questions about FAFSA? PHEAA is hold a free summertime webinar in July

27 June 2024- The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) is holding a free, virtual FAFSA Line by Line Webinar on July 9 to guide college-bound students and their families, step by step, in completing the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is available at StudentAid.gov/FAFSA.

Filing the FAFSA online is the first step to determine if you qualify for a Federal Pell Grant, PA State Grant, need-based scholarships, institutional awards, and federal student loans.

“The FAFSA is the only application for federal aid, so successful completion and submission are imperative for college-bound students and families,” explained Senator Wayne D. Fontana, PHEAA Board Chairman. “PHEAA Higher Education Access Partners are providing this free virtual opportunity to walk applicants through the FAFSA form, line by line, drawing upon their financial aid industry experience to guide each student to successful submission.”

To prepare for FAFSA completion, students and families can use the FAFSA Checklist, created by PHEAA to help them prepare for the FAFSA completion process, which outlines all the items and information needed to ensure successful submission. All participating students and contributors (such as parents and spouses) must establish their Federal Student Aid Accounts (FSA ID) at StudentAid.gov/fsa-id/create-account at least 4 days prior to attending this event.

“Depending upon your personal situation, the FAFSA can be more difficult for some families to fill out than for others,” said James Steeley, PHEAA President and CEO. “Our Higher Education Access Partners are educated on the new FAFSA and familiar with the challenges that many families encounter when attempting to complete the FAFSA. They’re ready to answer any questions you may have, assist you with any challenges, and guide you to successful completion during this free webinar.”
