14 August 2023- A Shippensburg area man is looking at multiple misdemeanor charges after a domestic dispute involving his neighbor and his neighbor’s two sons. Matthew Troy Farwell is charged with three counts of misdemeanor terroristic threats, three counts of misdemeanor simple assault, summary trespassing, and summary disorderly conduct. Farwell failed to post bail of $25,000.
Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were called to Coldsmith Road in Greene Township around 3:15pm on Sunday, August 13th for a dispute between neighbors. Police initially tried contact Matthew Farwell but he wasn’t home. They then went to talk to the victim who said that Farwell had stopped at the end of his property and threatened him and his two sons. The victim allegedly said that Farwell stopped at the edge of the property while still in his truck and “began yelling nonsense at us”. When the victim and his sons went out to talk to Farwell, the latter allegedly had two knives in his hands, one in each hand, and stated “Get back, I’ll f*****g cut you. I have two knives”. The victim then called police.
Farwell was eventually found after he returned to his home around an hour after police arrived. He was taken into custody where he reportedly told police that he was going to the home “to apologize and that this is all a big misunderstanding”. Farwell additionally said that he was going to the home to tell the family that his house was broken into.
Matthew Farwell is behind bars on $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for August 22nd.
