Shippensburg man charged with slew of sex crimes against minor

15 June 2023- A Shippensburg man is behind bars after being alleged to have committed years of sexual abuse against a juveniles girl. Mario Mejia is charged with three felony counts of rape of a child, felony IDSI forcible compulsion, three felony counts of sexual assault, and more sex crimes. Mejia is charged with 13 felonies and 5 misdemeanors. He failed to post bail of $100,000 and is lodged at Franklin County Jail.

On June 14th, Pennsylvania State Police were notified of a series of sexual assaults from between 2014 and 2019 at addresses on Mickey Inn Road and Mapleton Road in Franklin County. Troopers say that these occurred when the victim was between 11 and 15 by Mario Mejia, who is about three and a half years older than the victim.

Mejia allegedly started sexually assaulting the victim before raping her and forcing her to commit sexual acts on him. This continued for a number of years and was allegedly confirmed by another juvenile witness. The witness reportedly told investigators that he was in bed with the victim and Mejia during one of the assaults, with Mejia saying sexual things and the victim verbally not consenting.

Mejia was interviewed by Troopers, where he allegedly admitted that physical contact happened with the victim, but “would not elaborate”.

Mejia is behind bars on $100,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for June 27th.
