02 January 2024- Classmates of fallen PSP Trooper Jacques “Jay” Rougeau have established a scholarship in his memory. Trooper Rougeau, killed in the line of duty in June 2023, graduated from Corry High School in 2012.
Trooper Rougeau’s wife, Chloe, is a former Corry volleyball player.
During a manhunt on June 17th, Trooper Rougeau was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a man who had previously shot at a PSP barracks in Lewistown. Also critically injured in the exchange of fire was Lt. James Wagner, who later survived his injuries. Tpr. Rougeau was killed when a round entered his patrol vehicle.
Enlisting in June 2020 as a member of the 160th cadet class, Trooper Rougeau was assigned to Troop G, Lewistown after previously being assigned to Troop J, York. He was 29 years old at the age of his passing.
Hoops, Hope & Honor, a charity event for the scholarship, will raise funds at Corry High School boys basketball games on Jan. 4, starting at 6 p.m. in the Corry High School East gym. There will be 50/50 drawings, a basket raffle, concessions and more.
