Scammers create fictitious “Winter Farm Expo” in PA to defraud businesses

14 November 2023- Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry and Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding are warning businesses of scammers soliciting booth reservations and payments for an event — that is not actually taking place — at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

The solicitations are promoting a “Winter Farm Expo,” from January 6-7, 2024, and request payments to reserve vendor space. There is no such event scheduled at the Farm Show Complex on those dates.

“Scammers are creative in their endeavors to prey on people to make a profit,” Attorney General Henry said. “It is frustrating to see a scam like this surface and potentially tarnish a longstanding attraction event like the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Do not allow yourselves to be fooled: do your research before signing paperwork or sending payment.”

Consumers with questions, or who feel they may have been victims of this scam, may submit a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, Bureau of Consumer Protection by visiting the website, https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/scams-complaint/ or by calling the office at 1-800-441-2555.
