Rep Joyce calls Biden’s block of new Liquefied Natural Gas projects “far-left attack on American energy”

26 January 2024- Congressman John Joyce, M.D. (PA-13) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s decision to put American energy security at risk by blocking approval for new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects.

“President Biden has once again put the concerns of his political base ahead of Pennsylvania families and workers who provide the affordable, clean energy that powers our communities. This decision is the next step in a far-left attack on American energy that puts our future as the world leader in LNG sales in jeopardy.

Ultimately, this attempt to enact Green New Deal policies will harm – not help – American families. Once again, the Biden Administration is putting far-left special interests ahead of the needs of our communities.”

This graph shows the price Americans are paying domestically for natural gas per cubic foot.  It is clear that as U.S. LNG exports have increased over the last decade, Americans have benefited from the increase in supply it has caused.  The ability to export LNG has given American companies the confidence to invest in greater production to unlock the energy under the feet of constituents across the United States.
