PSP say drugs involved in Fayetteville murder, one behind bars

24 June 2024- A 30 year old father is behind bars today after reportedly shooting and killing another man during an argument over drugs and money on his front lawn. Anthony Jalile Henderson was denied bail by MDJ Eyer after being charged with first degree murder, third degree murder, felony possession of a narcotic with intent to deliver, five felony counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and two felony counts of receiving stolen property. MDJ Eyer listed his reasoning for denying bail to Henderson saying, “no amount of money or bail conditions will keep public safe”.

Troopers were initially dispatched to a home on Mountain Shadow Drive in Greene Township just after 7pm on Saturday for a call involving multiple shots fired and a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. Callers initially called police saying that they heard two men arguing in the neighborhood over money before two loud bangs that sounded like gunshots.

Troopers located the aforementioned car, a red minivan, stopped in the middle of the roadway. They gave verbal commands to the driver to exit the vehicle but after a time of not responding, they approached the van and found the driver slumped over the steering wheel. That man, Lance Riley, would be pronounced deceased at the scene after Troopers and EMS tried to resuscitate him.

PSP say they quickly zeroed in on the nearby home, to which they say Anthony Henderson exited the residence after being called out of the home. He was taken to PSP Chambersburg for questioning. Surveillance footage, though, was obtained during a neighborhood canvas.

On that footage, Troopers say that Riley can be seen driving his vehicle into Henderson’s driveway before engaging in a verbal altercation with the latter. PSP say that as the victim turned away and walked back to his vehicle, Henderson raised his arm in “a manner consistent with holding a handgun”. The vehicle backed out of the driveway with Riley in it before coming to a complete stop in the roadway.

During an examination of the vehicle, Troopers say they found two bullet holes in the vehicle, with one being found in the driver’s side mirror and the other in the windshield on the driver’s side. Blood, PSP say, was also found in the driveway were the victim had initially parked his vehicle.

A preliminary examination of Riley’s body reportedly showed a single gunshot wound to the right bicep, which continued into the victim’s right side.

A search warrant was quickly obtained for the residence, which reportedly yielded a handgun inside of a safe in Henderson’s laundry room. That gun, a Taurus revolver, allegedly had seven rounds in the cylinder, including two empty shell casings and five live rounds. Also in the safe, Troopers say, was crack cocaine, cocaine, marijuana, pills, and a large sum of cash in addition to four other firearms. Two of those guns, including the previously mentioned Taurus revolver, were found to be stolen.

Henderson was interviewed at PSP Chambersburg around 11:20pm that night, with him allegedly telling Troopers that he “had been helping the victim obtain cocaine” and referred to himself as a “middle man”. A verbal altercation between the two men centered around money, Henderson allegedly said, with it ending when Henderson went back inside. He allegedly said he locked the door behind him and that only him and his two juvenile daughters were home at the time of the murder.

The interview continued, with Henderson allegedly saying that he heard a large bang like a gunshot outside his home but denied having any firearms in the home or on the property.

Anthony Henderson has a previous conviction relating to a guilty plea to possession with intent to distribute narcotics back in 2014, which would make him ineligible to own a firearm. He remains behind bars on bail denied.
