PSP Roundup: Treasure trove of found drugs, more

15 January 2024- A hit and run crash on Buchanan Trail West last month is being investigated by PSP as a DUI. Police say that around 6:40pm on December 7th, 2023, they were dispatched to investigate a two vehicle crash on PA-16 in Peters Township.

Responding units were advised that the vehicle that had caused the accident fled the scene but was being followed by a witness. After speaking to the driver of that vehicle, police say they determined him to be under the influence of alcohol. That man, investigators say, was Seth Hammond-Minnich, 34, of Waynesboro.

PSP Reports do not show any significant injuries as a result of the crash.


Troopers are currently investigating a reported theft of funds from an elderly Chambersburg woman. Investigators say that the alleged theft occurred around 12:45am on December 12th.

The victim, a 78 year old Chambersburg woman, is described as having the money stolen on Franklin Farm Lane, likely her current residence. PSP is treating this case as a possible theft/fraud case. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.


Pennsylvania State Police say that they were able to find a number of drug paraphernalia items as well as suspected drugs on the Williamsport Pike, Antrim Township earlier this month.

Troopers were dispatched to the 14600 block of the Williamsport Pike around 11:30am on January 12th for a litany of found drugs. In the collection, police say they found over $200 worth of syringes, safe cookers, capsules containing white powder, multiple straws and smoking devices with drug residue, and other items of suspected drug paraphernalia.

PSP says that another case of check fraud is being investigated at a Chambersburg Bank. Troopers were initially notified around 2:15pm on December 7th of a report of bad checks being filed at the Patriot Federal Credit Union Branch on Lincoln Way East, Guilford Township.

Troopers say that through the theft, the unknown actor was able to take $4701.99 from the bank. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing.


Another catalytic converter theft in Greencastle is currently being investigated by PSP. Troopers say they were initially notified around 4:20pm on December 7th of a reported theft of the part from a 2001 Jeep Cherokee at a location on Young Road, Antrim Township.
