PSP Roundup: Mail carrier’s vehicle hit by Chambersburg driver, more

30 October 2023- Pennsylvania State Police were called to a location on Fayetteville Main Street around 1:30pm on October 28th. Through the course of the investigation, police determined the caller, an unnamed 22 year old Fayetteville man, was not being truthful to them. Police describe the incident as a false report or statement to law enforcement, but say that the investigation is ongoing.


A US postal service truck driver was sent to Holy Spirit Hospital following a crash around 10:40am on October 28th. Police say that the 50 year old woman was driving her Grumman Allied LLV-A, the most common USPS mail delivery vehicle, when a vehicle driven by a 28 year old Chambersburg man rear ended her.

The USPS truck continued over the right curb of SR-997 Black Gap Road after the collision and traveled down an embankment, stopping at the bottom. The 28 year old, driving a 2007 Ford F-150XLT, traveled through the front yard of the nearby house and side swiped a tree.

The driver of the F-150 was cited for driving too fast for conditions and was found to have no injuries, but the driver of the USPS truck sustained injuries and was taken to Camp Hill’s Holy Spirit Hospital for treatment.


Pennsylvania State Police Troopers are investigating the theft of almost $500 in cash from a South Mountain business. Troopers were called around 5pm on September 5th to the Michaux Manor on S Mountain Road, Quincy Township.

Upon investigation, police believe that someone had entered the business’ safe and stole $480 in cash. PSP-Chambersburg continue to investigate.


A Hedgesville woman and Mercersburg man are reportedly recovering after having to be life flighted from a motorcycle crash on Lincoln Way East, Guilford Township on Saturday morning.

Troopers say a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was being driven by a 26 year old Mercersburg man eastbound in the left lane of Lincoln Way East in the 1300 block. A Mercedes-Benz SUV was stopped for the red traffic light when it seems the Harley tried to stop too quickly and fell on its side.

Both the 26 year old man and 24 year old woman were thrown from the bike as the vehicle crashed into the stopped SUV. The two on the motorcycle were transported to WellSpan York Hospital by air medical, with their condition last listed by PSP as them having serious injuries.
