03 August 2022- Pennsylvania State Police, Needmore Volunteer Fire Department and EMS were called to a report of an active shooting. After further investigation, it was determined that the report was false, with the initial indication being it was an incident of “swatting”. The false incident was reported at 1:05pm on Monday August 1 at an address on Bradshaw Road in Belfast Township, east of Needmore.

“Swatting” is a criminal tactic of filing false reports with law enforcement of shooters or other claims with the hope of police, fire, and EMS showing up. It is criminal harassment and a waste of public resources.

The investigation, according to PSP, is still ongoing. As such, there is no known threat or danger to the public at this time.
