PSP looking for man who allegedly stole thousands in gift cards from Family Dollar in Chambersburg, Hagerstown

09 February 2023- The Pennsylvania State Police Troop H – Chambersburg Station, responded on 12/20/2022 at approximately 1624 hours to Family Dollar located on Lincoln Way East in Guilford Township, Franklin County for a reported theft.

The pictured Black male suspect entered the store and had the cashier ring up a gift card for $500. The suspect then requested that the cashier look behind them for a certain item. During this time, the suspect hit the cash button on the computer. When the cashier turned around, a receipt was printed, and they presumed it was from the card the suspect had put into the card machine. The suspect inserted his credit card into the card reader device backward, which prevent it from reading the card at all.

The suspect then repeated the same maneuver for another $500.

It was believed the suspect was with another Black male. The suspect fled in a silver four-door sedan with an unknown registration.

The same suspect is believed to have committed similar thefts from Family Dollar in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, and two separate locations in Hagerstown, Maryland.
