PSP issue warrant for woman wanted in connection to assault on two Roxbury nurses

10 October 2023- A woman who was involuntarily committed to Roxbury Treatment Center in Greene Township is now wanted for multiple felonies following a June assault at the facility. Tywanda Smith is charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault against designated individuals and two counts of summary harassment. Smith’s last known address is listed as being from York, PA. Pennsylvania State Police have issued a warrant for her arrest.

Around 7:30am on June 27th, PSP Troopers were dispatched to an assault against two nurses at the Roxbury Treatment Center. When they arrived, they allegedly found Tywanda Smith sedated in her room and the nurses completely separated from her.

Police spoke to one of the nurses who required treatment from EMS and later transportation to a hospital. The victim allegedly told police that Smith was an involuntary committal to the Center’s mental health unit. Smith had allegedly kicked and punched her, especially in the abdomen. According to the victim, Smith was acting like she was trying to “grab her intestines”.

After the first victim was transported, police spoke with the other nurse involved. She allegedly told police Smith seemed like she was going through a manic episode when she grabbed the second victim and scraped her hard enough to draw blood. Additionally, she was left with scratched and bruises but denied EMS treatment.

Tywanda Smith of York, PA is wanted by PSP Troopers on the previously mentioned charges.
