PSP-Chambersburg Roundup: check fraud leading to attempted art theft, more

05 June 2023- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating several cash withdrawals from different ATM’s utilizing a 78 year old victim’s card. Troopers say that around February 11th, an elderly Chambersburg woman’s cards were used to draw $10,000 from multiple ATMs. PSP continue to investigate.


Troopers are investigating a theft from a home on Claridge Court, Greene Township. Police say that they were made aware of the theft on May 4th when a 75 year old Fayetteville woman reported that multiple items were stolen from inside of her home while she was in the hospital.


On June 1st around 8:53pm, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a home on Lockaber Avenue, Greene Township for a reported criminal mischief. Police determined that Nathaniel Hoffman, 28, of Chambersburg, slashed the tire of his neighbor’s 2007 Audi A4. Hoffman was charged with criminal mischief.


On May 20th around 8:57pm, Pennsylvania State Police were dispatched to help EMS near 45 Antrim Commons Drive in Greencastle. Troopers and EMS allegedly found a man who was found unresponsive inside of his parked vehicle. It was eventually determined that the man, now known to be Jesse Dueck, 36, of Greencastle, had been driving prior to first responders’ arrival. He was subsequently charged with DUI.


Police were made aware on May 4th of an identity theft involving multiple people from Chambersburg and far away states. The victim allegedly told police that a person was taking his business information and making fraudulent checks hoping to get pieces of art in return. The victim continued, saying that he had multiple people from over the US getting in contact with him about the checks. PSP Continue to investigate. Victims are listed to be from Chambersburg, PA, Santa Fe, NM, Tulsa, OK, and Hillsdale, NJ.


Police are now reporting an alleged sexual assault that happened on August 17th of 2020. Police responded to Chambersburg Hospital to speak with a 20 year old Franklin County female about an alleged sexual assault. The investigation in this case is still ongoing.
