Police chase man through Chambersburg residential area after he flees because of weed possession

27 December 2023- A suspended license and a small amount of marijuana seem to be the main drivers for an Ortanna, PA man’s flight from officers following an attempted traffic stop on Saturday night. Robert Eugene Glacken is behind bars on $50,000 bail after being charged with felony fleeing an officer, misdemeanor evading arrest on foot, misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor marijuana possession, and numerous traffic violations.

PSP Troopers were on regular patrol along Lincoln Way East in Guilford Township on December 23rd when they allegedly found a 2001 Chevy Silverado take a sharp left turn onto Crider Avenue from the main roadway. This abrupt turn made traffic grind to a halt and brake extremely hard. Due to this careless driving incident, Troopers tried to pull the pickup over but the man reportedly took off in the car.

Troopers say that the Silverado drove through a heavily residential area to elude police, with it eventually spinning out in a yard of a home. The driver then took off on foot, trying to evade arrest again before giving up and lying down in the grass. This all allegedly happened just before 8pm, likely with many people nearby in the neighborhood.

The driver, determined to be Robert Glacken, allegedly told police while being arrested that he ran due to having a suspended license and having marijuana in the car with him. Police say that a search of the vehicle found marijuana in the front passenger seat as well as a pipe for smoking. Additionally, police say they smelled both raw and burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. This was reportedly confirmed by Glacken, who said that he had been smoking recently.

Glacken was transported to PSP Chambersburg for processing, with him then allegedly denying a legal blood draw request due to his alleged admission of smoking prior to getting behind the wheel.

Robert Glacken is behind bars on $50,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 2nd.
