Plans have been approved to strike back at certain Iranian targets in Iraq and Syria

February 2 — After the death of three US military soldiers at a base in Jordan over the weekend, the United States has been planning to strike back.

The drone strike near the Syrian border on Sunday also wounded more than 40 US military service men and women.

The Pentagon is planning to go after Iranian personnel and facilities inside both Syria and Iraq over the next few days.

Iran has continued to deny any involvement in the attack.

Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “A lot of people in the defense community are intelligently speculating that those efforts likely begin today. They’ll probably last for a period of several days.”

The weather could play a role in where and when the strikes will happen. Visibility is crucial when carrying out these kinds of attacks.

Barkdoll said, “It’s still not clear where the US may be attacking. The conventional wisdom is it’s going to be high value targets that Iranian has assets invested in in the Middle East and maybe even in Iran itself. So that’s going to be huge news if that happens today.”
