16 November 2023- A Carlisle man is accused of depositing a number of checks into his bank account with falsified info then pulling the money from banks in Harrisburg and Chambersburg. Anthony Malik Sease is charged with three counts of felony theft by deception. He’s currently incarcerated on $15,000 bail.
Chambersburg PD took a report of $29,975.24 being deposited into a Truist Bank account on April 26th of this year. Shortly after the deposits, the account owner, Anthony Sease, withdrew $24,510.30 from that account. These were allegedly made via bank card purchases and three separate large cash withdrawals made at two bank locations.
On April 5th, $5,000 was pulled from a York-Harrisburg Branch, with two separate transactions later taking place from Truist’s Norland Avenue branch in Chambersburg for an additional $6,000 and $10,000. Police say that the deposited checks totaling over $24,000 were made out from a dentist in South Carolina. When police spoke to the victim, she reportedly told them she was aware of the issue and was working with her bank to fix it.
Police were given information and files pertaining to the depositing of the phony checks, which all allegedly show Sease mobile depositing them through the bank’s app. They were reportedly all put into the same account, the one that was pulled from on numerous occasions by Sease.
Anthony Sease is behind bars on $15,000. His preliminary hearing is set for November 21st.
