23 June 2023- Some Shippensburg area power customers will not have power for around 7 hours next week as Penelec Power Company performs system upgrades. In a release to social media by Southampton Township in Franklin County, Penelec customers outside of Shippensburg may either have no power or intermittent power for almost a full workday. On Wednesday June 28th, there will be a planned power outage to upgrade our facilities for enhanced circuit reliability for our customers. The outage will affect customers in the vicinity of Howard Avenue, Leasing Drive, Mainsville Road, Ole Scotland Road, Pineville Road, Remington Drive, Ruger Road, Seibert Avenue, Truck Tech Way, and I-81S in Shippensburg. There will be a service interruption from approximately 8am to 3pm, for 7 hours.
In event of an unforeseen emergency or inclement weather, the planned outage would then occur on Thursday, June 29th during the same timeframe. Penelec thanks you for your patience and understanding while we perform this week.
