Pedestrian Accident

CHAMBERSBURG – Today, 10/22/2021, at 1010am, the Chambersburg Police Dept. responded to the intersection of S. Main St and Washington St. for a pedestrian accident.

Initial investigation revealed that Unit #1 (Dodge Dakota truck) was traveling south on S. Main St. Unit #2 (a 31 year old female pedestrian) was crossing the roadway in the crosswalk from the northeast side of the street to the southeast side of the street. As the light changed for traffic on S. Main St, the pedestrian got a signal to cross E. Washington St. Unit #1 was traveling thru a green light and was making a left turn from S. Main St. Unit #1 struck the pedestrian while she was inside the crosswalk. The Chambersburg Fire Dept. responded and the pedestrian was later transported by helicopter to Holy Spirit. The pedestrian was conscious and alert immediately after the accident and was transported for further treatment due to the nature of the accident. Further investigation / and any charges are pending.
