WAYNESBORO — Local police are warning residents about a new scam going around on social media.
According to a report from the Waynesboro Police Department, a property in the borough is being advertised for rent on Facebook Marketplace and the person who posted the listing is asking for personal information to be sent via email, as well as an appeal for money to be sent electronically.
According to police, this is a scam.
Residents and social media users are asked to report ads or suspicious activity on the platform to police.
Waynesboro Police remind residents to not give out any personal information or send checks or cash to anyone you do not know.
