July 20 – An “undeniable pattern of preferential treatment,” is one way the investigation into Hunter Biden’s federal tax problems has been described by an IRS whistleblower.
Special Agent Joseph Ziegler, who has served more than 12 years in the agency’s Criminal Investigation Division, has revealed his identity and said he felt like he was “handcuffed” during the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son.
Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “I thought these whistleblowers yesterday were very credible. They have no axe to grind. They are still employed by the way at the IRS. So it’s not like they’re disgruntled employees that got fired or something like that. They were under oath and these are law enforcement officials. These aren’t just the IRS people sitting behind the desk processing paperwork. These are IRS law enforcement agents that investigate cases like this. And this Mr. Ziegler pointed out that in his 14 years at the IRS, he never encountered a case like this, where there just seemed to be so much constant interference to shut down the investigation.”
A lot of the alleged conduct from Hunter Biden apparently occurred before his father was president.
Barkdoll said, “It was when Biden was a private citizen, although some of it was at the tail end of Joe Biden’s vice presidency under Obama. But as we know, the investigation has now spilled into the Biden presidency. The agent even said that private citizen Biden at the time showed up at a local FBI field office while the investigation was happening, presumably to pressure the team not to further pursue this. So there’s a lot of really troubling aspects of this, the criminal conduct aside, because it does seem like there’s a lot of smoke here related to tax crimes, but these agents are pointing out the investigation interference in and of itself should trouble everyone. It’s not clear where this goes.”
Hunter Biden has already accepted the plea deal, so the investigation is apparently over.
Barkdoll said, “We know that the prosecutor’s office, they are denying these claims. They’re saying that they had free rein to do whatever they wanted to do. That House committee, they must subpoena or bring in these prosecutors to get to the bottom of what’s going on here.”
Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM noted, “There’s so much disturbing stuff that came out in this meeting yesterday. This Assistant US Attorney Lesley Wolf, she has to be brought in. The things that she admitted to them and then cautioned them about and told them not to do, it’s unbelievable. I think one real telling thing that came out, they said they divulged information to the Biden transition team. Why? That’s completely political. Why in the world would they be interacting with the Biden transition team?”
Barkdoll said, “Not only that, but the one whistleblower said that Hunter Biden’s legal team was routinely tipped off before search warrants were about to be executed, which is unheard of in law enforcement. You don’t tip off the target of an investigation that hey, we’re coming over the house at 5:30 tonight to do a search. So it really sounds like there’s some shenanigans that went on here, but it’s unclear who’s going to be held accountable for this. I think it’s good that the House did this hearing, and they’re likely going to work up their own report. But remember that these House committees do not have the power to bring charges. All they can do is make referrals to the DOJ, but could this get to a point where it’s so clear that things happened that the DOJ would have to take action. A lot is going to depend on what the prosecutors in this case would say if and when they’re called in to testify.”
Jansen said, “Seventeen million dollars to the Biden family between 2014 and 2019. It’s so obvious there’s corruption here. It’s like we’re all looking at what we know to be something really wrong and people are trying to deny it. For Jamie Raskin, with a straight face, to say this is just a political endeavor. Oh my goodness. There’s no self awareness. The checks and balances are all between the FBI and the DOJ.”
Barkdoll added, “I think this whole thing is just an illustration of how political everything is. Everyone looks at this with their partisan jerseys on. None of the Democrats on that committee will acknowledge that something needs to be further examined here, that there’s something clearly awry. Even look at the media coverage. Fox covered this wall to wall yesterday and it was I think very newsworthy. You barely saw this mentioned on CNN or MSNBC. It just seems to tie into so many of the things we’ve seen over the years now. There’s just constant confirmation bias whether you’re sitting on that committee, or it’s these networks rolling things out to viewers. Everyone should be on this, media at all levels, but it just seems like some outlets shrug their shoulders and move on. It’s like oh, this is another political or partisan witch hunt and that’s why I’m afraid that you may not see as much come out of this as there should be.”
Jansen suggested, “We’re not living in reality anymore. It’s narratives. I heard a Briton saying yesterday you Americans are in big trouble because you take your politics as a whole. So if you’re a Democrat and whatever the Democrat media and Democrat pundits say I’m going to believe that and if you’re a Republican, whatever the Republican media and the Republican pundits say I’m going to believe that. We’re not using critical thinking. We’re being really stupid and we’re living by narrative instead of by truth.”
Barkdoll said, “I could give another example from earlier in the week, today or tomorrow, it’s very likely Donald Trump is going to be criminally charged again, from things related to January 6. Fox didn’t even cover the story. MSNBC was wall to wall with it. That’s all they wanted to give to their viewers. To me, it’s the same example. So many of these outlets are so partisan in their coverage of things and then I think that sows and creates further division within the country and in the final analysis, there’s no critical thinking. There’s no real honest analysis of these things. This issue yesterday with the Bidens, the whole country should be concerned about this and should be pressuring lawmakers to take action on this.”
