08 January 2024- Chambersburg PD are saying that one person has been arrested following a mugging and assault that allegedly took place in early December of 2023. Angel Ruben Perez Rodriguez is charged with felony aggravated assault with extreme indifference, felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felony conspiracy to commit robbery. Perez Rodriguez is behind bars on $250,000.
Chambersburg PD were called to the Chambersburg Hospital just after 6:15a on December 9th for a report of two men that had been severely assaulted. The two men were initially interviewed, but were reinterviewed later due to the severity of their injuries. During the initial interview, police say the men told them they were attacked by several people in the area of Connor Avenue and W Queen Street. As a result of the attack, the men both sustained severe facial injuries, knocking them out. One of the men also had his wallet containing $200 stolen from it, with the other losing his wallet containing a credit card and his phone during the assault.
About four days later, CPD reinterviewed the men after they had recovered from the incident. The men allegedly reported that Rodriguez’s codefendant, Anderson Molina-Salazar, had hitched a ride with them to a location on S Federal Street. Continuing, Molina-Salazar allegedly said he was owed $200 from one of the men before he became more aggressive.
This conversation reportedly devolved, with it escalating into a fight. It was at this point that a second man, believed by CPD and the victims to be Angel Perez Rodriguez, joined the fight and began punching the victims. Both Perez Rodriguez and Molina-Salazar were described by the victims as having “had metal wrapped around their knuckles”. This fight allegedly continued, resulting in a final beat down with the victims being knocked unconscious due to numerous punches and kicks.
Angel Perez Rodriguez is behind bars on $250,000 bail. His codefendant, Anderson Molina-Salazar, has not been arraigned and still has an active warrant from Chambersburg PD.
