Now the escapee in Chester County has a gun

September 12 – The search for the escaped murderer, Danelo Cavalcante, took yet another turn yesterday when the 34-year-old Brazilian man stole a gun from a garage in Chester County.

The homeowners fired at Cavalcante as he fled the scene, but he evaded capture.

This is now the 13th day he has been on the run since escaping prison at the end of August by crab-walking up the walls. Cavalcante has been convicted of murder for stabbing his girlfriend 38 times in front of her two young children in 2021 and has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Cavalcante continues to change his clothing, including his shoes, and he recently shaved his facial hair as well.

Pat Ryan of NewsTalk 103.7FM said, “Resources are massive to find this one. Shoot on sight orders as I understand have been approved here.”

Attorney Clint Barkdoll said, “It sounds like they had a bead on this guy. The police dogs were out. I see they now found a pair of sneakers that they think belonged to this fugitive. They’ve reset the perimeter. They think they’ve got it defined into a very narrow area again out there in Chester County.”

All the local schools are closed in Chester County.

Barkdoll said, “This guy really now is armed and dangerous. They knew he was dangerous before but they know now that he stole this shotgun. We know it’s getting more and more desperate. The latest number I saw is as of today, there could be upwards of 1,000 people out there looking for this guy. So I still think eventually they’re going to find him. I’m almost certain they’re going to find him, but it is remarkable we’re going into two weeks now that this guy has evaded all that number of federal, state and local law enforcement.”

Michele Jansen of NewsTalk 103.7FM added, “How about we take away phones from all people who are being security guards, in any way shape or form are supposed to be guarding the jail yard? The one guy was fired. They say his face was in his phone and that’s what he was doing when this guy escaped. You know what? If you’re supposed to be vigilant about something, you shouldn’t have a smartphone even on you. And how much is this costing the state of Pennsylvania to look for this guy? It’s way more than this guy’s annual salary.”

Barkdoll said, “This manhunt, I’ll bet we’re going to be in the tens of millions of dollars by the time it’s all said and done. Remember, this fugitive, assuming they get him, he’s already been given a life sentence in a state prison for murdering his girlfriend so they’ll never get a dime out of this guy. That’s why people think he’s so of course dangerous. He has nothing to lose. He’s already going to go to prison for life. So, very bad situation all around and even some of those small towns out there, they’re going to be investing a lot of money in this and in some cases, they probably can’t afford to spend that money, but they need to do it here.”
