OCEAN CITY, MD – Arrest Made in Homicide of Daynard Johnson (10/14/2020)
Alexander Daniel BROOKS, age 25 of Hagerstown, was taken in to custody in Ocean City, Maryland on an active warrant for murder. He was located and arrested by HPD detectives in conjunction with OCPD and the US Marshals/MSP Apprehension Team. We want to extend our thanks to those cooperating agencies that helped us to take Brooks in to custody.
Brooks is charged with the following and is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center:
1st and 2nd degree murder
Conspiracy to commit 1st and 2nd degree murder
Numerous firearms related charges
Numerous other charges in relation to the commission of murder
The murder of Daynard Johnson remains an ongoing investigation. HPD detectives will continue to work tirelessly to bring any other persons involved to justice. We anticipate other arrests will be made and we will update the media as appropriate.
