New to college and don’t know how FAFSA works or need to know how it’s changed? Get free help from PA’s experts!

18 June 2024- The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) announced today that they are offering virtual office hours throughout June for college-bound students and their families, as well as school counselors, who have questions regarding the 2024- 25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).

Filing the FAFSA online is the first step in determining if you qualify for a Federal Pell Grant, PA State Grant, scholarships, institutional awards, and federal student loans.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in pursuing postsecondary education to complete and submit the FAFSA,” explained Senator Wayne Fontana, PHEAA Board Chairman. “It is the most important step in obtaining aid and affording postsecondary education. It can be a frustrating process, depending upon your personal circumstances, but help is available with any issues you may encounter.”

PHEAA’s financial aid experts, the PHEAA Access Partners, are available for one-on-one virtual FAFSA sessions on Wednesdays in June from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. To schedule a session, email the PHEAA Access Partner who serves your local region; contact information is available at pheaa.org/about/contact-us/pa-school-services.shtml.

“If a family is having issues with completing the FAFSA, our Access Partners are easily accessible to assist with FAFSA completion,” said James Steeley, PHEAA President & CEO. “We are pleased to offer expert assistance in applying for financial aid and affording the dream of higher education.” You can learn about and register for other free higher education planning webinars, hosted by PHEAA financial aid experts, at pheaa.org/virtual/.
