New program addresses substance abuse stigma

HARRISBURG – A statewide campaign to reduce the stigma of substance abuse disorders is underway in Pennsylvania.

State officials from the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, in partnership with Penn State University’s Douglas W. Pollock Center for Addiction Outreach and Research, public health nonprofit The Public Good Projects, and national nonprofit Shatterproof, announced the launch of Life Unites Us.

The statewide campaign is funded by $1.9 million in federal grant funding and part of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Program’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan goal of reducing stigma of substance use disorder.
