Two 1970s music legends have passed away.
Helen Reddy, whose No. 1 hit, “I Am Woman” propelled her to the top of the charts in 1972, has died. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29, 2020 in Los Angeles,” wrote her children Traci Donat and Jordan Sommers. “She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
Reddy was 78.
Mac Davis, who rose to stardom with hits such as “Baby Don’t Get Hooked on Me,” also died Sept. 29.
Davis was named 1974 Entertainer of the Year.
He was also 78.
