“Mrs. Claus” and Homeless Matters make Chambersburg’s Christmas bright

22 December 2023- Christmas may in fact be a little brighter thanks to a generous stranger in Chambersburg earlier today. Around 8am today, a kind stranger only addressed as “Mrs. Claus” dropped off numerous fully wrapped and labeled Christmas gifts underneath the tree in Memorial Square of Chambersburg to those who needed a helping hand this holiday season.

Also today in the square, Homeless Matters of Franklin County was handing out items to those who desperately need them ahead of Monday’s holiday. Taking over the southwest part of the Square, Homeless Matters handed out new socks, personal hygiene items, and “anything else that they have in the truck that could be a blessing to someone” to anyone “no questions asked”.

Many of the gifts of “Mrs. Claus” likely went to those who desperately needed them during the Homeless Matters distribution.

The full letter from “Mrs. Claus” can be read below.

“In these gifts you will find all sorts of gently used items for ANYONE who needs a gift on Christmas. They are all labeled with who they may be best for. Please share with friends, family, and neighbors or anyone you know who is in need this holiday season. Spread joy, spread love, spread kindness.”

The letter continues, “I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must love another.” (John 13:34).

As of this evening, all of the presents have been claimed to a good home. Likewise, Homeless Matters has fully distributed a number of important items to the community.

The family at News Talk 1037FM and Tristate Alert wish not only “Mrs. Claus” but all who help at Homeless Matters and throughout the community a very Merry Christmas to you and yours.
