Mont Alto domestic sends man to jail on $50,000 bail

05 February 2024- A Mont Alto man is facing multiple charges following a violent domestic incident over the weekend. Daniel Lee Barton is charged with felony strangulation, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, misdemeanor terroristic threats, and citation harassment. Barton is behind bars today on $50,000 bail.

Pennsylvania State Police Troopers were called to a home on Cedar Street in Mont Alto around 3:50am on February 4th for an inactive domestic that was previously violent.

Interviewing the victim, police learned that the victim was allegedly repeatedly assaulted by her boyfriend, Daniel Barton. Barton had reportedly came home around 3am after crashing his pickup truck and was in an intoxicated state. Screaming at the victim and blaming her for multiple things, including potentially getting arrested, Barton reportedly began punching the victim up to 10 times in the face. During this incident, he reportedly also choked the victim.

During the incident, Barton reportedly told the victim he would kill her with his multiple high-powered rifles that he owned should he go to jail.

Fleeing to the neighbor’s home to call 911, the victim was able to remove herself from the home. She was, however, severely injured.

Barton was taken into custody around 5am by PSP. Troopers do note, however, that Barton was found inside of the home with multiple rifles in the immediate area of himself. This, the Troopers say, “provided the physical means for him to act upon his statements” made to the victim.

Daniel Barton is behind bars on $50,000 bail.
